Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society

The Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society (JWBS) was originally named the Jewish Ladies Society when first formed in the late 1800s to “alleviate human suffering”. It was renamed in 1907, and moved to its current location in Sandringham Gardens, where it continues to provide financial assistance to Jewish families. The collection comprises of photographs taken through the years of various members at meetings and events, including a group photo of the executive committee from 1969.
